Rosa's Canteen Rosa's Canteen, Little Bourke St & Thomson St, Melbourne VIC 3000, Australia

A casual kitchen overlooking the Supreme Court, Rosa's Cantina is the second eatery from champion of Sicilian dining, Rosa Mitchell. Her signature unfussy Italian flavours shape the menu of antipasto, pasta and tongue dishes. You're equally welcome to dive into a one-plate lunch (make it a bowl-full of carbs, like the gnocchi with braised oxtail) or settle in for a medley of dishes, just make sure your reserve a cannoli when you begin.

Seasonal, traditional Italian food, served in a spacious, contemporary setting overlooking beautiful large trees. “Rosa Mitchell: she's the five-foot-nothing, Sicilian-born, hairdresser-turned-chef who everyone in Melbourne has wished was their mum since she started cooking pastas and frittatas at Journal Canteen in 2007.” - Good Food, Gemima Cody

It is our opinion that you can never have too much of a good thing. That’s why we’re super happy that Rosa Mitchell, co-owner of Sicilian restaurant Rosa’s Kitchen, has opened up another restaurant in Melbourne’s CBD. Rosa has designed a menu that features not only her signature Sicilian favourites, but dishes from all around the boot-shaped nation. Expect much loved classics like veal saltimbocca, spaghetti carbonara and sumptuous arancini balls. You can also choose a yummy banquet option if you’re coming with a large group - this could include a baby suckling pig or a whole leg of goat! You can’t go wrong at this hearty, homely Italian joint.
