The story of Pope Joan is a medieval legend about a prominent man who turns out to be a progressive woman. Now also running a smooth cafe in Brunswick East, Pope Joan has her disguises here too; the dining room is a friendly cafe by day and colourful neighbourhood bar by night. There's alcoholic drinks, bar snacks and share plates, but Pope Joan is best known for her smashing breakfasts so we recommend a daytime visit.
The Pope serves our punters breakfast, lunch, sweet treats, daily specials and the best Bloody Mary this side of the Yarra 7-days-a–week from 7:00am to 3:00pm.
Our Summer Camp Cookouts were such a hoot that we are thrilled to announce that they will be making a comeback this December for 12 sessions. Kicking off on the 5th of December, our Matt will be at the helm, taking his culinary clout outdoors in our backyard garden, armed with a fire pit, an open BBQ (and bevvy) as well as an ever-changing menu. Prepare your posse for some shenanigans.
