From the first step inside Brunswick East's Mankoushé, there is an air of quirkiness, with a wall illustrated of well-suited men who have pies for faces playing on the cafe's name which literally means pie in Lebanese. Devour freshly baked Middle eastern delights here like Lebanese flatbreads and traditional style pizza's. Dine- in or take away this a popular little neighbourhood gem. Mankoushe translates to gathering from soil. With a wood-fired oven at the heart of our kitchen, we offer seasonal dishes made by hand, using locally-sourced artisan produce. Our menu reflects the depth of Middle Eastern cuisine, stretching from Iran to Morocco whilst working with the best ingredients Australia has to offer.
Mankoushe is a family run Middle Eastern restaurant and bakery located on Lygon Street in Brunswick East. After arriving in Australia from Beirut 7 years ago, Jad, Hady and Gisele are excited to share their unique culinary passion and experience with all the hungry Australians. The Choucair family is passionate about sharing every aspect of Middle Eastern culture from falafel to Fairuz. Food has no borders and the Middle East has a history of travellers and traders, Bedouins and bazaars. The food at Mankoushe is informed by this rich tapestry and the Choucair family is excited to share it with you.
