Lost Angel Bar & Restaurant Lost Angel Bar & Restaurant, 285 Spring St, Melbourne VIC 3000, Australia

Angel Bar & Restaurant is a funky Thai fusion eatery located in the leafy area between Melbourne Museum, Royal Exhibition Building and Carlton Gardens. If you're going with friends, try the share platters to get a taste of a range of dishes and if you're on your own, the crispy pork belly comes recommended. The decor is industrial chic, with low-hanging light globes, yellow stools and wooden tables; well-suited to its trendy Melbournian clientele.

The name Lost Angel is a reference to having arrived from Bangkok. The Thai refer to their capital city as Krung Thep Maha Nakhon, which is derived from Pali and Sanskrit root words, and translates as ‘City of Angels’. For us who call Melbourne home now, Lost Angel evokes an idea of a physical separation from their roots, associations and memories with Bangkok - the multicultural, economic and social hub of Thailand. Certainly not lost, we are very clear about our intentions of bringing authentic Thai fare with fusion twists to Melbourne’s diverse and vibrant food culture.

Lost Angel creates an inviting ambience with contemporary architecture and interiors. Well-lit monochromatic spaces serve as a background for bursts of colour offered by the strategically-placed-to-catch-the-eye yellow furniture and red crockery. Guests are welcomed through a beautiful front courtyard with alfresco dining spaces and a mini herb garden; leading into the main service area with different seating arrangements such as lounge sofas, bar stools and dining tables. Depending on where you sit, you can truly ‘get lost’ within the pleasant surroundings.
