Greek fare doesn't get any more authentic than Bridge Road's Kritamos. Named after a succulent foraged from the Cretan coast, the restaurant's rustic dishes are lovingly prepared daily by the owner's mother – even the vine leaves for the dolmades are grown in her garden. Hearty traditional dishes are on the menu, made with the best of Hellenic ingredients; olive oil, feta cheese, oregano and seasonal veggies.
Kritamos Hellenic Cuisine is the place to experience traditional, authentic, home- style Greek food with flavours from the island of Crete. The restaurant is named after a wild fennel plant found along the coastline of Crete.
Kritamos is an exciting new venture by Australian-born musician Sifis Tsourdalakis
who recently returned to Melbourne after 15 years pursuing his passion for traditional folk music on his ancestral island, Crete.
Sifis has created a menu inspired by the wonderful traditional cooking and simple Mediterranean flavours he enjoyed while touring Crete and Greece from remote villages to some of Greece’s finest contemporary restaurants.
Kritamos’ menu reflects his love for home-style food and the health benefits long
associated with the Cretan diet, the epitome of the healthy Mediterranean diet.
The dishes incorporate ingredients from Greece and in particular from the island of Crete. Such ingredients include Cretan olive oil, Cretan barley rusks, and Cretan cheese to name a few.
Complementing the food, the wine list includes fine Greek wines, including wine from Crete and Santorini, as well as Greek beer and popular soft drinks.
Many traditional dishes on the menu are being prepared by his mother, while the chef brings a refined touch to Greek taverna classics. Kritamos is fully licensed restaurant and also caters for Vegetarians and Vegans.
