Richmond Oysters has been in operation since 1959 so they know a thing or two about seafood. In addition to the company's wholesale and retail seafood supplies, Richmond Oysters offers a casual restaurant specialising in fresh and cooked seafood dishes. The atmosphere here is easygoing and amiable - not the place for a romantic dinner, but terrific for a quick meal, whether with friends or on your own. It all began about 50 years ago, with two brothers shucking oysters. Time passed, the business grew, and in 2008 it extended into a casual eating place somewhere between a cafe and a restaurant. The tables, with white plastic chairs, are grouped towards the front but the space is dominated by a huge counter that is a bar at one end and a display counter for fresh seafood on the other. It's easy-going and amiable – not the place for a romantic dinner, but terrific for a quick meal, whether with friends or on your own.
