DO NOT EVER STAY HERE……the guy who owns and runs this place is extremely unfriendly, hostile and rude to people from out of province. And he doesn’t mind telling you either.
I had been traveling from Alberta on my way to Ottawa for work for the last couple of days. I called ahead and booked a room as I’d stay there before and thought it was a nice place and arrived at 9:30pm.
When the guy came to the office door, he opened the window beside the door and was extremely hostile and rude, saying,“what do you want”. I told him my name and said I had a reservation, he wouldn’t invite me into the office and it was -25. He noticed I had a splint on my left hand and snarkily asked, “how did you do that”, I said from working. He then, agressively snapped my credit card out of my hand and pushed a registration form in my face and closed the window. When he returned he gave me a key to a room on the terrace up the stairs….I asked if they had a room I could back my truck up too, to unload for the night. He snapped saying, “it’s the only room he had available”, I said “I don’t think that will work for me as I only have the use of one hand. He then angrily snapped saying” I don’t know what you to do about it”, slamming the window shut and turning of the office lights. I looked at him in shock and walked back to my truck. Sitting there I decided I didn’t want to stay there. I called the office and said to the owner that I’d like my money back and I’ll continue traveling down the road.
When he came back to the window with his wife, he was berating and scolding me for wanting me money back. The abrupt rudeness and hostility continued as he and his wife refunded my money, including agressively snapping my credit card from me again for the refund and throwing the refund receipt in my face. The whole time I maintained my composure, speaking directly, curiously, at one time during him berating he quipped, “your a man of few words”. What is one to say in the face of such unprovoked hostile aggression, other than “I would like my money back please” and go somewhere else.
